Vitamins & Minerals
Happy Tuesday SPEEDFLEXERS! Today’s #NutritionTalkTuesday topic is VITAMINS & MINERALS!
Like I mentioned before, I will be covering the little things that can slow down your results. Vitamins and Minerals, do they really work? The answer is YES! But something as simple as taking them in the morning instead of the afternoon can keep them from working. Think of your body as a car, you can get from point A to point B with your oil change light on but it will be taxing on your car. You’re sure to get an oil change as soon as possible.
That’s how you should treat your body with vitamins and supplements, you can make it through your workout, you can lose weight, and you can be healthy without them but it will be more taxing on your body.
So you want to take vitamins and minerals, but there are literally hundreds. Where do you start?
Today I will give you my top I will cover what they help with and how to take them! Let’s gets started:
1. FISH OIL– fish oil is at the top of my list because it’s like the holy grail of vitamins and supplements because of its ability to inhibit inflammation. It literally helps with everything, and by everything I mean cardiovascular health, may assist in lowering cholesterol, may help fend off depression and anxiety. It helps maintain your immune system, it also aids in weight loss by boosting your metabolism. It helps with fertility and great to take during pregnancy for OMEGA-3s & DHA. It can also help with skin conditions such as acne and psoriasis. For the best absorption take in the afternoon or evening with a meal.
2. VITAMIN D- Vitamin D’s most talked about benefits are strong bones and calcium absorption. But it also aids in dissolving plaque in the bloodstream, helps fend off infections like cold and flu by destroying bacteria and viruses, naturally boosts the immune system, improves muscle strength, and increases secretion of insulin & decreases blood sugar levels. For the best absorption take with a meal that contains some fat. Some studies showed that vitamin D can interfere with sleep so take in the early afternoon.
3. PROBIOTICS- I’m sure you’ve heard of eating yogurt with probiotics to help with bloating and digestion. But yogurt isn’t the best way to take probiotics to get the many benefits. Probiotics are good living bacteria and yeast that live in the intestinal tract that come in capsule form. They help balance out the bad bacteria, aid in digestion and promote a healthy digestive tract. They also help with constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating and improving gut health after antibiotics. They can also help improve bacteria driven skin conditions like acne. The best probiotics have 4-5 different strains of bacteria in them and last longer if they are refrigerated. Taking probiotics at night on an empty stomach with a glass of water will give you the best benefits.
I could spend days going over the benefits of vitamins and minerals and the many others out there. Many are specific to your body and what it needs so a general list is short because we are all are so unique. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comment section below!Back to news
