It’s that time again SPEEDFLEXERS! I hope you’re having a happy Tuesday so far. Today’s #NutritionTalkTuesday topic is FAT BURN and how to stay in a FAT BURNING state.
What you ingest determines what energy pathway your body will use to create energy. From my hand drawn visual, you can see that there are two pathways our bodies use food for fuel. Unfortunately our bodies are lazy our bodies like to take the easy way out when it comes to processing energy.
>Sugar and starch filled foods are the easiest for our bodies to process which makes sugar a readily available energy source when ingested.
>Burning fat takes a little more work and our bodies won’t burn it if there is sugar and starch around to burn first. Obviously limiting sugar and starch will help keep you in a fat burning state, but so will exercise (SPEEDFLEX!) and the other things listed under “What Activates the FAT BURNING PATHWAY”.
>The green and red circles represent your cells and how they are effected when each pathway is used. When your body uses fat for fuel it activates a molecule called AMP-K. AMP-K is an amazing molecule that serves as the master regulating switch for your cells, it determines your body fat composition and how long you’ll live. As we age AMP-K activation decreases which can lead to weight gain and body composition change. But you can combat that by staying in FAT BURNING state.
Eating sugars/starches, not getting enough sleep and drinking alcoholall keep your body from using fat for energy and reduces AMP-K activation. Along with that comes risks for diabetes and heart disease. So stay active, take vitamins, get your rest and BURN FAT
